A Pot Shot by Pedro Nava
“Pot dispensaries have spiraled out of control in our community, threaten the fabric and quality of our lives and must be stopped,” wrote Assembly member Pedro Nava. “Unfortunately, prior attempts to regulate pot dispensaries were lacking and have failed. The City Council must put an immediate end to continuing violations of the law. No more pot dispensaries should be allowed to open. Any that are already in business must be evaluated to determine if there were irregularities in prior permits. All dispensaries must be investigated to determine if they satisfy the requirements of Proposition 215, SB 240 and other laws. A moratorium should be placed on any and all pending and future permits for marijuana dispensaries until impacts can be evaluated, and appropriate regulations and protections for our community put in place.”

Another reactive retread Pedro moment. This gadfly needs to take a bong hit (or two) and try to come up with something new and useful for the community - not just grandstanding for the next election . . .

Pedro only concerned to stake out a position now that he is trying for a new job, now thats leadership!

I am glad Pedro came out on this. Without it, the clown twins at council of Das and Grant will try to make sure every dispensary in the pipeline gets through, giving us north of 20 dispensaries. I never wanted our city to be overrun with dispensaries. This is just out of hand. I am sick of seeing people smoke pot in the open! Maybe Nava can browbeat the liberal council into acting right on this issue.

Good for him. Marty’s defensiveness, and Das’s dishonorable ways look pretty bad here, and they deserve to be reminded by our Assembly member that adults are still in charge. And the potheads don’t run this city, despite Das and Grant’s attempts to let them.

Santa Barbara. The new Amsterdam?

Another feeble attempt by the Godfather himself to save us all from harm. Pedro is nothing more than a grand stander to keep living off us tax payers. Every so many years he has to change jobs to keep his head inflated or to beat the voter approved term limit.

This is funny. Something that is natural isnt legal but manmade crap like alcohol is legal. When more and more people die from alcoholism than from smoking marijuana. Makes a whole lot of sense doesnt it! How many bars are on State St? Enough said.

Does the City makes taxes on the product sold in the dispesaries? The dispensaries are legal?
I will be honest and 100% would not want one in my neighborhood.
The bars on State Street and the damage they cause/amount of resources spent by the City, and County for that matter…I agree it is somewhat silly to point fingers here.

I really don’t understand Pedro’s issue. Make it legal and tax it. Sell it in liquor stores….
