Santa Barbara’s General Municipal Election
Semi-official results are in for the Santa Barbara General Municipal election…
As predicted, Helene Schneider (10,254 votes) is out front with a decent lead over Dale Francisco (7,602 votes). The Steve Cushman campaign appears to be a major flop… Cushman trails Councilwoman Schneider by over 6,500 votes!
Measure B goes down… (Yes: 10,343 votes, No 12,009 votes)
Grant House, Bendy White, Michael Self and yes, Fossil Fuel Frank Hotchkiss are the top four vote getters… four (4) get in if when Helene Schneider is elected Mayor. While not the sweep he paid for (nearly $500K), three of Randall Van Wolfswinkel’s people will likely occupy seats on the Santa Barbara City Council.
Nearly 50% of eligible voters cast ballots… impressive for this mail-only election.
Winners; The status quo, City employees, local unions, Michael Self, the Lois Capps machine, out of town developers, and the Blog’s fearless prognosticator.
Losers; SB Chamber of Commerce, John Thyne III, the News-Press, David Pritchett, negative advertising, Bonnie Rasin, Iya Falcone, and long-time residents.

He will now that Measure B failed… he can put his construction company to work building 60 foot tall condo complexes all over downtown.
Glad to see 3 of his 4 on the Council. In 2011 conservatives will have the majority when Das gets booted, you heard it here first.

Right now that is about SB’s IQ for the brilliant endorsement of blue-line Schneider……

Can someone tell me how to find a list of the Santa Barbara Precincts?? I have been searching everything I can think of and can’t find a list or a map or anything. Thanks.

SB doesn’t have precincts. If we did House would represent the Eastside, Helene the west side, and reasonable folks the other areas.
