QUINIENTOS (keen-ee-ehn’-tos) five hundred. See Canon Perdido. At one time West Beach from State to Castillo aslo was know as Quinientos, according to some of the old maps. Notice that on the lower east side, Quinientos Street marks the city’s north-south boundary while State Steets divides east-west (by Ordinance of 1898). - Rosario Curletti
